The idol of Devi Tripura Sundari is made of Kasti stone which is reddish black in colour. The idol is of 1.57 mtr. long and .64 mtr width and installed on a stone platform. Devi Tripura Sundari has 4 hands, face is a bit longer, and eyes are comparatively small, standing on the chest of Lord Siva, crowned with golden crown and have a gridlock.
The Tripura Sundari Temple is build of the unique architecture of Tripura. The height of the temple is 75 feet, surrounded by 4 huge pillars in four corners of the temple. The root is built up of the Buddhist architectures. At the top of the temple seven pitcher/pots are set up holding one flag. The architecture of the temple is the combination of multi-culture and tradition of the country. The present temple is constructed during the reign of Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya Bahadur (1896-1990).
The temple is known to be the congregation of people from different religions and culture. The unique feature of the temple is that people from any religion can offer Puja to Sri Sri Mata Tripura Sundari. During the middle of the 18th century, Samser Gazi has attacked and captured Udaipur. In ‘Gazinama’, the Briography of Samser Gazi, it is referred that Gazi himself had offered puja to Devi Tripura Sundari. The Temple management Committee also comprises of people from various religion, culture and portfolios.
It is a custom that even the Muslims of Udaipur offer their first crops and milk to Devi Tripura Sundari. Devi Tripura Sundari is also popular among the Tribal Communities of Tripura. Puja is offered twice daily at the temple and Annabhog prasad can be taken by booking coupon in advance. Arati is offered at daily evening. Sacrifice is also offered daily except Dashami Tithi as per custom.
The Tripura Sundari Temple is presently run by the State Govt. as per the condition of Tripura Merger Agreement. The District Magistrate & Collector of Gomati District is by virtue of Chair holds the post of ‘Sevait’ of the temple. The DM & Collector, Gomati District is Member-Secretary and look after the entire management of the temple.
For the future development of Tripureswari Temple and adjacent area , Govt. of Tripura has formed "Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Trust". The Chairman of this trust is Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tripura.
